Jay-Z Meets With Warren Buffett And Steve Forbes

Warren Buffett. Jay-Z. Steve Forbes. You may not think of rap artists like Jay-Z in the same league as legendary entrepreneurs like Buffett, but you should. After all, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter may be famous for being a rapper, but he also is part owner of the New Jersey Nets, started The 40/40 Club — a restaurant and lounge with locations across the globe — and owns Roc-A-Fella Records and clothing company Rocawear, among other ventures. Jay-Z once rapped, “You lookin’ at the black Warren Buffett, so all critics can duck sick.”

Recently the pair, along with Steve Forbes, were in Buffett’s native Omaha, Nebraska to shoot for Forbes Magazine’s upcoming '400 Richest People issue.' Usually you need at least a Billion to get on the Forbes list.

Although Forbes magazine is keeping tight lipped, the resulting conversation of this meeting is apparently set to appear in the magazine's '400 Richest People in the World' issue. Reports indicate that the Roc Nation emcee is apparently worth an hefty $150 million. Although that's close to $900 million short of making Jay eligible for the magazine's list, it has led many to speculate that the three moguls "...talked about some of Buffett's favorite topics: money and philanthropy."
Maybe Jay-Z witnessed Buffett's pop-singing attempt in a Geico video earlier this year. Maybe it was Forbes' idea to bring the two together and see what happens. Maybe Jay-Z got the idea from other celebrities who have sought Buffett's counsel as they begin to think about long-term plans for the money they accumulate.

Whatever the reason or reasons, the get-together reportedly included a visit to the headquarters of Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. and a photo shoot in the memorabilia-decorated diner along Abbott Drive.

The visit was supposed to be secret, with cameras and their images kept within Forbes magazine's custody. But word leaked out (how could it not?), and a photo showing Buffett and Jay-Z appeared on VLADTV's website
