Should Teachers 'Friend' Students?
Now people are using it to spy on their exes, kids are dealing with their parents commenting on their walls, and bosses are monitoring what employees are doing on days they're not at work.
Apparently teachers in the New York district are using it to talk to their students and it's causing problems with the Department of Education.

Enlightened Self-Interest: Jay-Z Builds With Buffett...And More!
By Cedric Muhammad
“We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow.”
- Lord Palmerston, Speech To The House of Commons; March 1, 1848
As I return to providing advisory services to artists – before taking them on as clients - one of the most important areas I like to get into are how one’s self-concept (how well a person knows and views themselves) impacts the kind of material they write; ‘sound’ they rhyme over; and the alignment of their brand-image-reputation. Because I believe the secret to how magnetic an artist becomes lies in those elements being properly married I am very selective about who I work with and I am extremely doubtful about the prospects for the long-term success of any artist who doesn’t have a team around them who can help guide them through these dynamics.

How Did Obama Lose His Mojo?
Democrats distancing themselves from president, once a campaign rock star |
Chesapeake, Virginia -- It's dinner time on Sunday night and fresh burgers are sizzling on the grill a few feet away as Aaron Wheeler Sr., an African-American pastor who marched with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. as a kid, sits on his back patio and muses about how it has already been almost two years since President Obama's stunning election night victory electrified a nation.

Artist Spotlight - Henéle Wright
Artist/Producer Henele Wright's passion for all things music reaches way back. So far back in fact he recalls a deal he had to make as a child to get his first set of drums. "I had to take piano lessons first", says Henele of his parents' "compromise". "But, without that, I might JUST be another artist looking for beats".

Burqa Ban Passes In French Senate
The French Senate on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed a bill banning the burqa-style Islamic veil on public streets and other places, a measure that affects less than 2,000 women but that has been widely seen as a symbolic defense of French values.
The Senate voted 246 to 1 in favor of the bill in a final step toward making the ban a law — though it now must pass muster with France's constitutional watchdog. The bill was overwhelmingly passed in July in the lower house, the National Assembly.
November’s Midterm Will Define Obama Presidency
By Steve Holland
The congressional election in November will define President Barack Obama's next two years in office as Republicans look likely to pick up seats and put their stamp on issues ranging from the huge budget deficit to economic recovery and immigration.
Elected in 2008 on the promise of changing Washington, Obama will be forced to scale back his ambitions if the Republicans, who have tried to block his agenda of reforms and economic measures, do well in the November 2 election.

Fall Not For Social Conditioning
By Sean Nasir Brown
We all start off life as average men and women, but this doesn't mean that we do not have the ability to mold our lives according to our choice. We may feel as if we are the victims of fate, and although it is true that no man can escape his destiny (energy transmutation in other words physical death), we all have the capacity to rise above fate if we so choose. We are all given the opportunity at some point in our lives to decides for ourselves what we would like out of life.
The problem is that we are all born fools, for such is our human condition.

The Rise Of Adult Contemporary Hip Hop
By Seandra Sims
"You can't talk about slinging crack rocks and having a wicked jump shot. The left digit in your age is a four," Questlove of The Roots says with eery frankness. "You can't talk about, 'What up, boo? Come around my way.' Your subject matter has to be a lil' bit different."
